The Barcelona Chamber of Commerce presents the study “The potential of the dual-use technological and industrial base in Catalonia”

The Barcelona Chamber of Commerce, in collaboration with ACCIÓ, has presented the study The potential of the dual-use technological and industrial base in Catalonia, a report that analyzes the growth and positioning opportunities of Catalan industry in the field of dual-use technologies, with both civilian and defense applications.
 

The study has been prepared by the Economic Studies and Infrastructure Department of the Barcelona Chamber of Commerce, under the technical coordination of Roger Torrent i Ramió, and aims to establish a shared foundation to guide a Catalan industrial strategy for the 2025–2030 period.
 

The report provides a detailed overview of the European, national, and sectoral context, and examines the main value chains linked to defense and dual-use technologies, identifying the industrial and technological capabilities existing in Catalonia. It also analyzes key sectors such as aeronautics, space and New Space, unmanned systems, cyber defense, communications, advanced materials, and robotics, with a focus on the role of SMEs and their potential integration into European and national programs.
 

The document also proposes concrete pathways to facilitate access for Catalan companies to the dual-use market, addressing aspects such as certifications, financing, innovation programs, and strategic partnerships, with the aim of transforming current industrial potential into a competitive advantage recognized at the European level.
 

With this study, the Barcelona Chamber of Commerce seeks to contribute to the strategic debate on reindustrialization, European technological autonomy, and the role that Catalonia can play as a relevant actor in dual-use industrial value chains.
