On 7 and 8 May 2026, the European Space Astronomy Centre (ESAC) in Madrid will host the EcoDesign / LCA Days 2026, organised by the Spanish Space Agency (AEE) in collaboration with the European Space Agency’s (ESA) Clean Space programme.
The event takes place amid the growing relevance of ecodesign and Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) in the space sector, driven by new European environmental regulation. These approaches will have a significant impact across the entire industrial chain, from suppliers to system integrators and launch providers, who will be required to incorporate new obligations related to measuring, reporting, and reducing the environmental impact of their systems.
The workshop will address the current state of these requirements, the ESA and EU approach, and the practical implications for industry, with the aim of supporting understanding of regulatory changes and fostering the exchange of experiences among space sector stakeholders.
