Indra Group held a key meeting in Barcelona on May 11, 2026, with Catalonia’s defense and technology ecosystem to announce a major expansion in the region. On behalf of AeroS attended Santiago Ballesté (president), M. Rosa Fiol (vice president) and Neus Olea (director).
During the event, held at the Tinglados venue at the Port of Barcelona under the slogan “Innovate, Advance, Grow,” the company unveiled a growth plan that includes the creation of 1,500 new jobs by 2027 and the construction of a new flagship building in Barcelona to strengthen its defense, security, and space operations.
The event brought together more than 200 Catalan companies and featured the participation of Indra Group Chairman Ángel Simón, Chief Executive Officer José Vicente de los Mozos, and President of the Government of Catalonia Salvador Illa.
With this expansion, Indra expects to increase its workforce in Catalonia to 5,000 professionals and raise its regional revenue to €550 million by 2027. The company currently operates eight sites in Catalonia, employs 3,500 people, and generates €366 million in annual revenue in the region.
“Europe needs a strong industrial capability to guarantee the continent’s sovereignty, and Indra wants to lead that effort,” said Ángel Simón, who highlighted Catalonia’s potential to become a strategic hub for the defense and technology industries.
In addition to the new building in Barcelona, the company is evaluating further expansion across the region, including Tarragona, with the goal of strengthening Catalonia’s industrial and technological ecosystem.
José Vicente de los Mozos emphasized Indra’s commitment to collaborating with the local business community and reinforcing its role as a driving company for the competitiveness of Catalan SMEs.
For his part, Salvador Illa stressed the importance of strengthening Europe’s strategic autonomy and defended collective security as a key element for ensuring Europe’s welfare and competitiveness.
