17/07/2025

A new territorial overview published by the specialist outlet InfoDefensa offers updated insight into the structure and distribution of Spain’s defence industry. Catalonia plays a prominent role within the Centro-Mediterranean Corridor, with a total of 117 active centres in the sector.

The province of Barcelona leads with 91 centres, followed by Tarragona (18), Girona (4) and Lleida (4). These figures underline Catalonia’s strategic relevance, not only in terms of production capacity but also in its potential to foster innovation, attract investment and strengthen cross-sector synergies.

Overall, the Centro-Mediterranean Corridor comprises 713 centres and over 18,400 employees, making it one of the most active industrial corridors in the country’s defence sector. This data highlights Catalonia’s importance as a key hub for high-tech development and as a driver of public-private collaboration in a competitive and fast-evolving domain.

Full reports, available in both Spanish and English, can be accessed and downloaded directly from InfoDefensa's official website
