AeroS advances opportunities in security, defence and dual-use technologies in Catalonia

AeroS took part in the 2nd Business Conference on Security and Defence in Catalonia, organised by the Government of Catalonia’s Department of Business and Labour through ACCIÓ, together with the Ministry of Defence, the Ministry of Industry and Tourism, and AeroS. Held on 28 September, the event introduced Catalan businesses to opportunities in these sectors and facilitated new connections between companies and public authorities.

The conference highlighted the strengthening of Catalonia’s defence industry supply chain, with increases in both sector turnover and employment in 2025.

Miquel Sàmper, Minister for Business and Labour of the Government of Catalonia, outlined initiatives to consolidate the business ecosystem, including joint efforts with AeroS to develop the sector across Catalonia and establish it as a leading European hub. This collaboration aims to strengthen Europe’s strategic autonomy, Catalonia’s industrial capacity and the international reach of Catalan companies.

Miguel Ivorra, Director General for Strategy and Innovation in the Defence Industry, emphasised the Ministry of Defence’s commitment to strengthening collaboration with Catalan companies in five strategic areas: artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, unmanned systems, semiconductors and quantum technology. Connecting these capabilities with Spanish and European defence needs represents a growth opportunity for Catalan businesses.

Hilaturas Arnau Barcelona and Zodiac Milpro Española shared their experiences, offering practical insights into the requirements for operating in this sector, particularly the need to tailor products to each project’s specifications.

The conference concluded with a networking session and B2B meetings with companies from the sector.
